THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Only 3 hearings and 2 of them were also a request for redress either for capsizing or for physical damage. One of them involved a board seeking redress for 4 races due to damage and WS case 116 had to be invoked. The fact that the case states that the protest committee should ensure that fewer than half of a boat's race scores included in her series score, after any exclusion(s), are based on average points, may lead to tricky situations in the class due to the format of races. The iQFOiL class continues to use an experimental rule for the pre-start zone, to avoid complications that may be caused, especially with the the new rule B2.17. Also, a new format for the medal series was introduced. Finally, it is worth mentioning that many documents are not yet updated by WS to the new rules and the case book is not even published. For the event, it was decided not to run the medal series under Appendix MR, which is still referring to the old rules, but create a specific document for the medal series. - NORSH19
