Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
The conditions (predominantly light to medium winds and air temperatures of 36-40° C on all racing days) were challenging for everyone involved in the event. One hearing under RRS 69 was held because a support person (coach) approached a competitor in an aggressive way after a hearing and intimidated the competitor. A warning under RRS 64.5(b)(2) was given to all competitors supported by this coach while the coach was prohibited from going afloat and excluded from the event venue until the end of the event. Furthermore, a report was made to the International Kiteboarding Association. For the medal series, the new Appendix FMS was used with umpiring based on the live videos of drones and long lense cameras. Since drone videos provide the best viewing angles for most incidents, it would be preferable to have two drones available for umpire videos. Since the vast majority of competitors uses kites from the same manufacturer (and in the same colour), it is sometimes difficult to identify the kiteboards. Preferably one of the umpires should monitor the tracking to identify the kiteboards and ensure that penalties are given to the correct kiteboard, which requires the tracking to work properly. - GERFM4
