The TRE GOLFI SAILING WEEK consisted of the long distance race 68th Regata dei Tre Golfi (6 classes, 85 boats, 12 nations, 2 hearings including 1 request for redress), the 2023 IMA Maxi European Championship (26 boats, 8 nations, 5 races, 1 hearing) and the ORC Mediterranean Championship which included a regional qualifier (Campionato Nazionale Medio e Basso Tirreno) for the Italian ORC Championship with 30 boats from 6 nations, sailing 15 races in 3 classes with 4 hearings including 2 requests for redress.
The event was well organized and benefited from the expertise of PRO Stuart Childerley.
During the long distance race one boat suffered damage and had to send a ´Mayday´ call. One boat of the fleet sailed back and provided support until the coast guard arrived. The international jury decided to request redress on behalf of the boat. A second request for redress in the ORC Mediterranean Championship highlighted the importance of unambigous radio communication and the awareness of competitors that only the signals made are prevail. - GERTH8
